Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!

Today is my parent's 26th wedding anniversary! I just want them to know how much I look up to them and what great parents they have been! They are my role models and I want mine and Josh's marriage to be like theirs. They are so in love and still can't wait to see each other everyday! I am so happy for them and I wish them the best years to come...eternity!

New House

Here are a few pictures of our new house...please excuse some of the mess...we are still unpacking!
Above is our new curio cabinet that we just bought, it has all of our collectibles and stuff in it.
Above is our dining room table and below is what the center looks like.
The below two pictures is our media room...it's a work in progress. What am I talking about...the whole house is.

And the picture below is the flowers that our neighbors brought us when we moved in...they are so nice.

Sort of catching up

Well, before I catch you up on my new exciting life as a homeowner, I need to say congratulations to one of my best friends, Bonnie Nolte! She is engaged and getting married on August 22nd. Yay! And Happy Anniversary to Erin and Josh Lange...sorry, I know it was yesterday, but I'm fashionably late! And also happy birthday to Tonia Rogers (I know it was yesterday, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY)!

Okay, so I know I haven't done a post in forever! It has been a very busy few weeks. Unpacking is so annoying, but at the same time fun! It's like Christmas. I forgot about half of the stuff that I have! It's sort of exciting.

Teancum (our cat) is adjust very well, as are we. It's been fun. It's kind of like we are newlyweds again, because we are all alone. My favorite part is not having to worry about if I am in bed and then I get up in the middle of the night to get a drink of water, and having to find clothes in the dark to put on so nobody sees me in my underwear. Now, I could run in my house in my underwear and it wouldn't matter...okay that's not my favorite part of the new house, but it's a bonus!

Well, we have had some annoying things happen since we've been in our house, but I'm not going to bore you with them...I've decided I'm going to try not to complain as much, because I really have no reason to. I am very blessed!

Well, I just wanted to let you know that I am still alive, I just don't have internet yet so it's hard for me to do any posts. I will have internet tomorrow, but we are going on vacation for Camie and Juan's baby's blessing, Leyna, on Sunday (I am so excited to see you guys) and we will be gone for about two weeks so, it will probably be a while longer before I do another post.

I swear I will get pictures up sometime. We have had so many projects that take forever that I don't really have time to even take the pictures to post. Here's what we have done so far:

  • Cleaned out the garage of all of our boxes and unpacked them...well they are unpacked from the original nasty dirty boxes with bugs into new clean boxes that now need to be unpacked in the house, but now we can both pull into the garage, which is exciting.
  • Had our upstairs couch delivered for the media room.
  • We have started wiring for the surround sound...well, I should say Josh has. I like to pretend that I help, but yesterday when he was doing it, I just kept asking him questions, that probably slowed him down a lot!
  • We have mounted the TV.
  • We bought a curio cabinet (I think that is how it is spelled) for all of our collectible items.
  • We have set up the kitchen, pretty much. I have about one more load of dishes to do from all of the dishes that were in storage forever, but it's pretty much done.
  • We have hooked up our washer and dryer (which barely fit in the laundry room...we had to cut a hole in the sheetrock)
  • We have bought a lawn mower and trimmer (Josh has mowed the lawn twice already!)

And I'm sure there's a whole lot more that I just can't think of...and many more projects to come. I hope this catches you up! I'll will write a post sometime again soon...hopefully! Don't quote me on that!

The answer is...YES!!!!

I got a comment on my last post from Brooke asking if anything happened yet, and then realized...I've been so busy getting things moved that I haven't told you what has happened. So, now I will. We got a call at around 2:15 on Thursday telling us that we could come in and sign the papers. I was supposed to be at work at 3:00 to train some new people, but I called them and told them that I didn't know when I was going to be there. Luckily. there was another trainer there that could do the job! So, I pulled up in the parking lot and there is a big group of people piled up in the parking lot, which I thought was weird. Well, I get out of the car and I hear a noise. It sounded like fireworks, but I couldn't see where it was coming from. I kept looking in the parking lot and couldn't see anything. Finally, I look up and saw that the power line right in the parking lot was on fire! I was all worried, so I called 911. I figured someone else had already done that, but I did it anyway. They told me that there was a fire truck on their way. So, I walk into the building, and all of the lights were flickering, and I get into the title company's office and nobody is in there. They had a little bell to ring, so I rang it, and nobody came. So, I took it upon myself to walk around their office (oops) to see if I could find anybody. Well, nobody was back there, so I started to come back up, and everybody came back in, and here I am in the middle of their office, looking like a retard. Anyway, Beth (our escrow officer) saw me and told me that the computers weren't down, so she was hoping everything would go smoothly.

Well, Josh was late getting there, and I kept telling him to hurry, but he had to finish his job before he could get there. Beth finally came in and told me that if he didn't get here soon, that we wouldn't be able to sign because she had to fax all of the paperwork somewhere and then they had to wire transfer the money, and all of this stuff. Well, luckily everything worked out and we got our keys!!!!! right before 5:00. Unfortunaly I had to go to work right after, but that's okay! I took my key, with my cute little key chain they gave me, and showed everyone at work. I will take pictures of everything sometime soon...after I get semi-settled in, and then post them.

Friday, I would have gotten things moved in, except I'm a procrastinator and decided to wait until the last minute to do my defensive driving, so I had to do that Friday morning. I got up at around 7:30 so that I could just hurry up and get it done, and then I could move some stuff to the house. Well, I started doing the comedy one online, but I really wasn't paying attention becaues it was really boring, and when it came to the quiz after the first chapter, I failed. It said that I had exceeded the amount that Texas will allow and that I would have to sign up again and start over. I was so mad. I had already invested an hour and half in it. So, I started a whole new one with a different web site because I was mad at the comedy one. I figured I had plenty of time to get it done still. (I was supposed to be at work at 3:00) Well, it's about 1:30 and I still had a ton of it to go, so I called work and got my shift covered because I didn't think I would be done in time. I tried so hard to get it done by 4:00 (I needed to get it done by 4:00 so that they could overnight it to me, and I would get it on Monday, because it's due on Tuesday) but I finished it at 4:19. I was so mad, but I figured that they would just send it out on Monday, and I would get it on Tuesday morning and still be fine. So, I submitted it and then I realized that it said it had to be done by 4 Pacific Standard Time! I was so excited! So, needless to say, I just got my certificate this morning and now I have to go somewhere to get my driving record, and then I can turn it all in tomorrow! I am so glad it worked out.

Anyway, Friday night Josh got a trailer so we could move everything down to the house, but we didn't have enough time, so we ended up playing hooky from church on Sunday ( I know I need to repent) and got everything moved in yesterday. Now it's just a matter of unpacking. We had pretty much everything in storage for 9 months, except for our bedroom stuff, because we had been living with my parents, so now all of those boxes are in our garage, because we figured there would be bugs in the boxes and stuff and we didn't want them in our house. Needless to say, we have to was every single thing that is coming out of those boxes. I did two loads of dishes yesterday, and there's one going right now. It's going to be a long process, but that's okay. I'm FINALLy in!

Sorry this is so long!

FALSE ALARM

So, yesterday we get a call saying that we are for sure closing the next day (today) and of course, you know, we get all excited. Well, then last night, we get a call from the builder telling us we would NOT be calling. So, then I just get mad and I call our lender and she has no idea what I'm talking about, she said that we should be closing and to plan on closing. So, I called my sister because she used to be a loan officer and she works very closely with Allied (our lenders) so I figured she could let us know what exactly was going on. When I told her the story, which was basically just that the title company did not have the papers yet and so they weren't sure if we were going to close (that's why the builders told us we would not be closing) she said, oh you'll be fine. If the lenders tell you that they would have the papers to the title company tomorrow morning, they will. So basically we just had to play it be ear the next morning. Well, while we were at our final walk-through, we got a call from Allied saying that they have the papers and to be there at 1:00pm. So, of course we were thrilled...this had been going on forever. We get there and the lady is very nice and tells us up front that she didn't have the HUD approved yet but that she would continue with the paperwork anyway because she already knew what a headache it had been. So, we get through half the paperwork and then Josh realized that the particular paper that he was signing had the wrong address. It had 483 Mcganty, not McGarity. So, we had to go through and cross out Mcganty on all the papers and write in McGarity, and then we both had to initial it. It was a pain in the butt, but they said that it would be just fine. So, we get the paperwork done and Beth (the title company lady) told us that we just need to sit tight and wait for the HUD approval. (Mind you...this is at about 2:40, give or take) so we had already been there and hour and forty minutes. So, we are just hanging out talking to our realtor and at 4:00 (yes and hour and twenty minutes later) Beth comes in and tells us that the HUD had not been approved because apparently someone didn't do their job right and for some reason they sent in the loan papers for $145,144.00 instead of $145,496.00 which is what the actual price of the house is. Well, we thought, no big deal, we will just pay the $352 in cash and everything will be fine. Well, apparently the FHA guidelines are stupid and they basically just said that we would have to be reapproved for the loan...I know stupid. So, now tomorrow, they will have to send in the papers again and reapprove us for the loan and then we will most likely have to redo this whole process (they are telling us that we won't have to resign the papers) but we know better now to listen to what they say...we've learned our lesson on that end. Anyway, so now we are going to be waiting for a call tomorrow morning. The only problem is that we both work and can't get out of it. Apparently we aren't supposed to be getting the house or something. I haven't figured out why we're going through this hassle. Oh well, I'll let you know how it goes from here. Sorry you had to listen to me complain this whole time...
